We are a group of strong and confident women. Our mission and organizational goals are to culturally enhance Grand Valley State University's campus and increase society's awareness of today’s African American woman. YBBW is working towards the goal to unite women across Grand Valley's campus regardless of race, creed or color, while uplifting and enhancing the strength, knowledge, beauty and power of the African American woman. We are the largest minority group on campus with over 50 active members all ranging from freshmen to graduate students.
We host many events including our most popular Hair Show, Martin Luther King Jr. Celebration Dinner, A Beautiful Week in Color, Women's Conference and so much more.We make sure to give back to our community by participating in community service as well as partnering with Muskegon High School to mentor young girls through a program called L.Y.P.G.L.O.S.S.
